Earth Day Volunteer Event

On Saturday April 20th ~25 volunteers helped Partridge Creek Farm ‘wake up’ and prepare the Ishpeming Middle School Garden, the Jasperlite Raised Garden Beds, and the Intergenerational Farm for the 2024 growing season. This year PCF’s goal is to grow 9,000lbs of food that will be distributed to the Ishpeming Community and the Ishpeming School District!

Here’s What Volunteers Accomplished

Volunteers woke up 26 beds by weeding, removing straw, pruning perennial plants, raking leaves, picking up trash, and applying over 100 buckets of compost to the beds!

At the Farm site volunteers shaped 6- 30”x50” beds in the hoophouse. They placed 1” of compost on each bed and raked it in. At the Jasperlite beds and shoveled gravel and tamped it in. All of these accomplishments have set us up for a successful growing season!

Thank you to Dead River Coffee and Huron Mountain Bakery for the donation of coffee and donuts to start our volunteer day off right!
